Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 landed on June 14 and brought with it a raft of changes to the popular DMZ game mode. Infinity Ward reset every player’s mission progress, added a new map and faction, and flipped the bartering and insured weapon system their heads.
Many DMZ players are bemoaning their luck right now because some of the items required to progress the Phalanx faction missions are hard to find. In order to progress to Tier 2 missions, players must first unlock what are known as urgent missions, and the only way to do this for Phalanx is to collect three bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide, Cephalexin, or Acetone. All three are super rare, and it is a gamble to find them, not in the online betting website sense of the world but because they are only found in some locations, and they only randomly spawn in those locations.
Where to Find Acetone in DMZ Season 4
Acetone is one of the chemicals you need to extract for the Phalanx faction, but the game neglects to inform you where you can find it, which is not helpful in the slightest. Players are having better luck finding acetone in the massive underground Koschei Complex, a challenging addition to the DMZ map.
Ensure you enter Koschei Complex via the Oasis in the northwest corner of the map. Once inside, make your way toward the main Chemical Plant entrance. Here, you should find several medical cabinets on the way, which may contain acetone. We suggest that you extract as soon as possible if you find some acetone because the Koschei Complex is unforgiving the deeper you progress, and you do not want to spend time finding this rare item only to die to high-rank AI or other squads.
Other players have reported finding acetone in the six hospitals dotted around the Al-Mazrah map. Again, they should be in the medical cabinets fixed to the walls.
Acetone also spawns in Building 21, but as this map is only available on the weekend, we suggest heading to Koschei Complex or frequenting the Al-Mazrah hospitals instead
Where to Find GPUs and Golden Skulls in DMZ Season 4
You must find and extract Gold Bars, Golden Skulls, and GPUs to unlock your third insured weapon slot in DMZ Season 4. Like the acetone mentioned above, these items are high on the rarity scale, and their spawn rate is governed by the RNG (Random Number Generator), and finding them can prove challenging.
Gold Bars are the most common of the three items required for unlocking your third insured weapon slot. They appear more frequently in Al-Mazrah police stations and rare loot boxes, particularly in strongholds and other locked areas.
It is a similar story regarding Gold Skulls. However, the DMZ bosses have a high chance of dropping Gld Skulls when you kill them. Bosses such as Pyro, the Scavenger, and Juggernaught, are the easiest to find, and they are easy enough if you are geared up and with a squad.
GPUs are one of the rarest loot items in the game right now. They were rare in previous seasons, but Infinity Ward has drastically lowered their spawn rate. However, eagle-eyed players have spotted a location with a seemingly 100% spawn rate, although the developers could patch this out at any moment, so you have been warned.
The new map, Vondel, is where you need to head to increase your chances of finding a GPU in DMZ Season 4. While they sometimes randomly drop after completing High-Value Target (HVT) missions, it appears they 100% spawn in the locked stage bags in Vondel. Stage bags can be found on music stages north of the Fire Department (grid C5) near the southwest of the map and behind the University to the north (grid E2/E3). They also spawn in the barista bag (grid F4), although you need keys to open these bags. Those keys are usually found on the bodies of vanquished HVTs, or you can use a skeleton key. Good luck!
